FX--Family eXperience

First Wednesday of Every Month

6:15-7:15pm, Backlot Building

In our Children’s Ministry at Briarlake we recently started asking ourselves this question: “What can we do to help parents guide their kids in spiritual matters?” For most families, the longest spiritual conversation of the week happens in the car after church on Sunday afternoon. It starts with, “So what did you learn today?” and ends quickly with, “Where are we going for lunch?”

FX is a Family eXperience that is created to give parents and kids a shared experience that can lead to easy, meaningful spiritual conversation during the rest of the month. FX is an interactive theater experience that happens once a month, for one hour, on the first Wednesday of every month, at 6:15pm in the Backlot building at Briarlake Church. At FX, kids will sit together at the front and parents will sit together in the back as everyone enjoys an amazing, interactive stage experience. Here are a few things that you could see at FX:

• Games that involve kids, parents and kids and parents (and prizes!)
• Bible teaching geared for kids, but meaningful to parents
• Fun music videos
• Drama that shows how the virtue of the month applies to real life
• An opportunity for kids to help someone in need during the month

Another FX bonus designed to help parents connect with kids about spiritual things is the FX take-home pack. Each family will leave FX with a pack of things to help facilitate easy conversation about God based on what everyone experienced at FX. Some things you might find in the pack—questions to ask each other on the drive to school or soccer, a widget that reminds everyone what they learned and how they can apply it, simple games or activities you can do as a family to further your understanding or discussion.

At Briarlake Church, we believe what happens at church is important, but we believe what happens at home is more important than what happens at church.
